Piano lessons

Sergei Pavlov is a member of ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association).

As both a winner of the Grand Prix of the 1995  Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition and a piano teacher with a Master's Degree in Piano Pedagogy, Sergei Pavlov applies his extensive experience in teaching by successfully integrating the best of Russian and North American elements of technique and expression. The piano teacher also provides with online resources for practising sight reading and other modern tools for his students to quantify their piano education progress.

Sergei Pavlov's piano lessons lead to constantly good  results. His students come from all over Greater Toronto Area - Scarborough, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, etc. They achieve top results in Royal Conservatory of Music's piano examinations in Toronto and win prizes in music festivals. Studio's Policy

Yamaha grand piano professional series - C5

The home piano studio is equipped with a professional C5 Series Yamaha grand piano and a digital keyboard. It possesses digital recording equipment, digital music editing software, professional CD and DVD making capabilities.

Lessons schedule: The piano lessons  are delivered at the piano studio or student's home, Mon - Fri after 4 p.m., Sat - Sun: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.. 

Payments are made at the beginning of each month. In the event of lesson cancellation, advanced notification is required. One cancellation free of charge is allowed per semester. A missed lesson can be rescheduled according to the piano teacher's availability.

Lessons duration: The piano teacher will suggest the length of the lessons based on the student's level and abilities, from 30 - 45 min for beginners to 60 min for the intermediate and advanced.

Practice is mandatory and the foundation of rapid advancement, and should take place daily. Practice time is based on individual piano education goals, but should be no less than 30 minutes daily. There are efficient ways to practice, that the piano teacher will advise about. A piano at home is mandatory. Keyboards, even with weighted keys, are not advisable.

Piano recitals: They are enjoyable and motivating events and offer the additional experience of performing in public and strengthening the self-confidence in preparation for music festivals and RCM examinations. All students are expected to participate in recitals, which take place twice a year.

Music scores and manuals: For convenience, books can be purchased by the piano teacher. Payment is due upon receipt.

Accompaniment: If the piano teacher accompanies a student in a public performance, rehearsals must take place before the event.

Registration

For new students the registration begins at the beginning of September. Potential students will be interviewed by Sergei Pavlov free of charge. In case Mr. Pavlov's class is already full, they will have the choice of either being placed on the waiting list for the next semester, or to be recommeded to a teaching associate.
